March 24th, 32.30 Miles

I left Austin this morning hoping I'd be in better shape. Unfortunately, my blisters have not completely resolved and my knee is once again causing extreme pain.  I want to thank the fellow at the Mountain Motel for the extra blanket.  Hopefully this will help me to fend off the cold.  I also want to thank Donna at Chevron for the extra food and water.  This will help immensely along my journey.  I found myself climbing uphill for a great distance, then down, up, and down again until it finally leveled off a bit.  There were strong wind gusts all day -- 30 to 40 mph.  I eventually came to where the county line intersects with 50 and decided to camp out on the Eureka side.  I'm hoping the coyotes are quieter tonight!
