Steven Ran 22.5+ Miles Today!
Steven began today at the North end of the Golden Gate Bridge today.
Let's talk about the 250 lb. gorilla in the room. That's me. I believe I ran up at least 5 mountains today, one of which was the wrong direction and I had to loop back and re-route. I also had my first dog attack today by a huge brown dog who chased me down the street. OK, maybe it wasn't quite so huge, more medium size. Well, maybe to be accurate, it was a brown chihuahua on a leash that was caught by it's owner. But it was a dog and thank God I didn't have to use pepper spray on it. Just kidding! On a more serious note, for a 250 lb man to be running up mountains is not the easiest task in the world - I guess I underestimated the task. The last elevation I climbed was just at 10,000 feet, and about 3 miles straight up. The pain that I endure for the wrongfully convicted is nothing compared to that pain that they endure 24 hours a day. So, whenever I think of how much pain I feel, I think of them and my pain is minimized (as I sit here with 50 lbs. of ice on my knees and my foot.) Funny how things work out, on my journey today I ran into a gentleman who works as a reintegration counselor for San Quentin Prison. I gave him a card, told him what I was doing and he said he will bring it up in his Thurday meeting. This is still my calling and I'll be back out there tomorrow morning at 8:00 a.m.
